Death Train Wave Events

Understand wave mechanics, enemy spawn patterns, and special events in Death Train.

Wave Progression System

Automatic Progression

Waves progress automatically as your train moves. Each wave brings new challenges and requires different strategies.

Wave Scaling

As waves progress, enemies become stronger and more numerous. The difficulty increases exponentially, requiring better units and strategies.

Halt Mechanic

You can halt the train to pause wave progression, but this comes with risks including Personal Chasers and reduced cash earnings.

Wave Categories

Early Waves (1-10)

  • • Basic zombies
  • • Low enemy count
  • • Manageable with starter units
  • • Focus on economy building

Mid Waves (11-20)

  • • Mix of regular and elite enemies
  • • Increased enemy count
  • • Need upgraded units
  • • Boss waves appear

Late Waves (21+)

  • • Heavy elite presence
  • • Massive hordes
  • • AoE units essential
  • • Endless mode begins

Boss Waves

Boss Wave Frequency

Boss waves appear every few waves (e.g., Wave 20). These feature a boss or a large group of heavy units that require special preparation.

Boss Wave Strategy

  • Save gold before boss waves to upgrade units if needed
  • Focus all firepower on the boss
  • Use AoE units to clear accompanying enemies
  • May require multiple high-tier units or upgraded defenses
  • Personal weapons can help with boss damage

Special Events

Escort Events

Look for zombies chasing a victim near the tracks. Halt the train, kill the attackers, and escort the victim to the nearest checkpoint for rewards that scale with difficulty.

Town Exploration

When the train reaches a checkpoint or town, look for buildings with interiors. These often contain cash, gems, and exclusive collectibles.

Personal Chasers

Special zombies that spawn when you stay away from the train too long or halt for extended periods. They target you specifically, not the train.

Endless Mode (Wave 28+)

Massive Hordes

By Wave 28+, the number of zombies becomes overwhelming. Single-target units will be ineffective. AoE units become absolutely essential.

Endless Strategy

  • Halt minimally to keep wave momentum
  • Deploy maximum number of AoE towers
  • Focus on gold farming to unlock better units
  • Prioritize Lightning Cannon and Stone Launcher
  • Upgrade Gem to maximum level
