Death Train Survival Guide
Master the halt mechanic and risk management to survive longer in Death Train.
The Halt Mechanic
Halting the train allows you to pause the progression of waves to loot or participate in events, but it changes the game's difficulty significantly.
Personal Chasers
If you stay away from the train too long or halt for too long, "Personal Zombies" will spawn. These are not part of the wave count but have the same strength as the last wave you faced.
Anti-AFK Balancing
You can only halt after completing 5 waves without stopping. Cash earnings during a halt are restricted to 5-20% of your performance compared to the last wave to prevent AFK farming.
Survival Tip
Your train defenses do not take damage from personal chasers. Focus all your energy on the personal chasers attacking you directly.
Risk Management
Safe Zone (< 45s)
Recommended for quick interior looting in towns. Low risk of personal chaser spawns.
Danger Zone (> 90s)
High probability of elite Personal Chaser spawns. The tool advises immediate return to the train.
The 5-Wave Rule
Only halt after completing 5 consecutive waves without stopping to ensure maximum economic efficiency.
Map Interactivity & Checkpoints
Looting
Enter buildings to find cash, gems, and exclusive collectibles. The latest update has added full interiors to checkpoints and towns.
Escort Events
Look for zombies chasing a victim. Halt the train, kill the attackers, and escort the victim to the nearest checkpoint for rewards that scale with difficulty.
Stay Close
When scavenging, stay near the train to avoid triggering too many personal chasers.
Survival Tips
- Stay near the train when exploring to minimize personal chaser spawns
- Use halt mechanic wisely - only when necessary for looting or events
- Complete 5 waves before halting to maximize cash efficiency
- Focus on personal chasers when they spawn - your train is safe
- Prioritize escort missions for scalable rewards
- Don't AFK farm - cash earnings are heavily reduced during halts
