Death Train Strategy Guide
Master advanced tactics and meta strategies to optimize your Death Train gameplay.
Strategic Unit Placement
Front Car Priority
Place units on the front cars of the train for maximum range and firing time. Units placed here will engage enemies earlier and more frequently.
Distraction Tactics
Zombies prioritize attacking buildings and units before the Gem. Place non-essential structures at the edge of your train car to "bait" zombie attacks and buy your main damage-dealers more time.
AoE Positioning
Position AoE units like Lightning Cannon where they have a clear line of sight to the center of the track to maximize their "one-shot" potential on elite zombies.
Upgrade Path Optimization
Gem Scaling
Invest heavily in upgrading the Gem itself. This increases its HP and is often a requirement to unlock high-tier endgame units like the Lightning Cannon.
Unit Upgrade Priority
Always prioritize upgrading existing units to their maximum level before placing new, weaker ones. Upgraded units provide better value than multiple weak units.
Crate vs. Upgrade
Compare the high-risk/high-reward 150g Crates (random rarity) against the stable, guaranteed progression of Gem levels. Early game, focus on guaranteed upgrades.
Area of Effect (AoE) Priority
In later waves, single-target gunners will be overwhelmed. Prioritize upgrading to AoE units like the Lightning Tower or Cannon to clear massive hordes.
- Lightning Cannon: Massive splash damage, can one-shot many larger zombies
- Stone Launcher: Essential for Wave 25+ survival
- Lightning Tower: Excellent for handling multiple targets
- Cannon: High damage for taking down larger zombie variants
Endless Mode Meta
Halt Minimally
Keep wave momentum by halting minimally. Only halt after completing at least 5 waves without stopping to ensure maximum cash efficiency.
Maximum Deployment
Deploy the maximum number of towers possible. Fill all available slots with upgraded units for maximum DPS.
Gold Farming
Farm gold to unlock better units and classes. Focus on efficient gold generation through wave completion rather than halting.
